Today I don't feel like doing anything

The little getaway to Melbourne was great, but when I take a lil break from blogging it turns into a HUGE break. It takes a while for me to get back into it.

But the real reason is that I've been having major fail with my ENAS soft stamping. I usually do my nails at night, and take picture the next morning. But since I've been so unhappy with my failed attempts, I removed them before I went to bed. Therefore no pictures the next day.

Excuses excuses, right?

Maybe I'm just being a lazy shit:
This is my dog by the way, sometimes I wish I could be her for just one day (so I can sleep all day too).

Happy birthday to me!

It was my 21st birthday yesterday, and I felt so loved and spoilt! I worked all day but had delicious food with friends for dinner, followed by the cutest and delicious cake EVER!

According to my parents, it wasn't my birthday yesterday. For my birthday my parents go by the lunar calendar which generally rolls around a month later. Crazy Asians right? But my friends and I celebrate on the 26th of Feb, because that's my DOB on legal documents.

That's my life story for you, let's move on to some nail polish:

This is Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in Celeb City (13). I'd been eyeing this one ever since I laid my eyes on it when the Sally Hansen brand was brought in at work. Oh how I love working in a pharmacy/drugstore just for the staff discounts!

Two coats for opacity without brush stroke marks, and it isn't too goopy or too runny. Drying time was average, but just look at the silver shimmery greatness :3 It's definitely not a foil, but looks almost like a foil because its such a shimmery metallic!

I'll now go back to nursing my big toe. I've had to teabag wrap it :(

We have these geckos of varying size all over our house. They make weird clicking noises and frighten me by randomly scurrying away, but at least they don't look scary. Living in Australia means having to deal with huge 8-legged monsters on a daily basis, but at least I get to live with these cuties too. We even had a green tree frog on a window once!

OH HAI!

Originally, I stopped updating because of the floods in Queensland. Then I was stuck in a polish rut, where I felt everything looked ugly on my nails. Recently I've been super busy, and just plain too lazy to keep up with blogposts.

As part of my on-course honours program, I have to spend pretty much the entire summer holidays in the lab. I don't even get to blow things up or do anything cool, just sit at this boring machine:
I know, exciting right? :

The main issue with labwork is washing up glassware using acetone. ACETONE! Which needless to say, greatly shortens the lifespan of my manicures. I've still got just over a month of labwork to do, but I decided I can't keep using that as an excuse.

So in summary, I'm back and shall try to update regularly!

Welcoming ZOLL

ZOLL is what jkimisyellow on youtube decided 2011 should be. He is so funny, I'm going to make him marry me even if he is gay. Anyway...

Because I never follow through with new year's resolutions, the only new year's resolution I'm going to set for ZOLL is this:

NEVER USE CUTICLE NIPPER AGAIN!!
It's so bad for the cuticles, but its a habit difficult to break. I've been trying hard to avoid it lately, so I hope to never touch it again.

Probably the only Christmas present I'm getting this year

My family doesn't celebrate Christmas, because my dad is an atheist. Despite my mum being Christian, what my dad says goes (or so he thinks) therefore we've always just spent Christmas day like any other summer (Australia here!) day. I'm the only one who puts up a tree, decorates it and places gifts under it, but this year I was super lazy and didn't get around to putting up the tree.

So the point of today's post is this:
My bosses at work are AMAZING!! They got EVERYONE at work these gift bags filled with beauty products and lollies (and an envelope with money! REAL money!) as well as nice snacks for morning tea. In the photo there isn't very much junk food left because I ate most of it already xD The big/full size products are Australian: A'kin, Ulittlebeauty, derm organics and Natio. The lipglosses are L'oreal and Sally Hansen. There is a loose powder and eyeshadow from freshMinerals, and a clear nail polish from Sally Hansen. The other things are little samples to try.

When I looked through the products again though, I couldn't help wondering whether they're trying to tell me something or it is merely a coincidence. The lipglosses are nude/neutral, and I'm wondering whether they want me to stop wearing orange/pink lipsticks. The clear nail polish may be suggesting to stop with my colourful nails. But then I could be overthinking it (as I always seem to do).

Anyway, it was such a nice gesture and now I'm wondering what I can get for them to return the gesture. Ideas?

Mmm jelly beans... sweet glucose power for the brain

I've been studying for the past week or so (with lots of procrastination in between), and I am officially going to hide in a hole until my exams are finished. The sugary goodness of jelly beans have been helping a lot with staying up late!

While I was munching(?) away, I was randomly reminded of my Chi Chi polish set. So I decided to take a break (or waste some time, which ever way you look at it) and take pictures with my new camera. I will do a swatch post once exams are over and I have some free time.
